PACKING AND MOVING TIPS BY MOVERS-MOVING.NET
Pro Movers Tip # 36 -
Know The Rules of The Road in Different Areas * Be sure to research driving laws in the areas you are driving to. Rules and regulations of the road may vary according to the state you are in.
Movers Tip # 91 -
Licensed and Insured Mover * Be careful when a mover claims to be "fully licensed and insured". Sometimes that does not mean a whole lot. In some states, no license is required for in state moving. And "fully insured" as required by tariff law, often only means very little cargo coverage.
Movers Tip # 86 -
Hazardous Materials Moving - Do's and Don't * Do not pack hazardous materials with your household goods without your mover's knowledge. Never pack anything that could be dangerous to your movers truck and contents. If your not sure, ask your mover before packing it.
Moving Tip # 7 -
Mark Your Boxes on the Sides, Not the Top * When marking your boxes be sure to do so on the side, not the top. When boxes are stacked on top of eachother, you can read writing on the side, but not on the top. Also, you might consider marking them on 2 sides. That way when whichever way they are stacked you can likely read the markings.
Pro Movers Tip # 16 -
Fold End of Packing Tape * When using packing tape be sure to slightly fold the end after each use. Otherwise, next time you go to use the packing tape it could be difficult to find the end. Unless you use a tape gun, available at most office or home stores for about $10.
Pro Movers Tip # 43 -
Moving Terms - Tariff Rules * Tariff: A list of rates, rules, regulations, and available services. Each moving company publishes its own tariffs and these must be provided to you upon request.
Quick Moving Tip # 13 -
Pack Non Essentials First * Pack non essential items first, and other items that you rarely use. This way you can begin packing months in advance. Stack these boxes in out of the way places, such as closets or your garage.
Moving Tip # 79 -
Possible Additional Services and Charges * Additional Services that may require extra charges: Packing, unpacking, appliance servicing, stairs, long carries. Most movers will charge you for extras. So if you have a long carry with a flight of stairs, expect you are going to get charged extra. To avoid expensive surprises, be sure to disclose these possible extras in advance of service.
Moving Tip # 57 -
Directions For Movers * Make sure the movers have good directions to your house. Time is money to the movers. Most line haul drivers probably have a GPS system in their rig, but just in case give them directions over the phone along with major cross roads.
Moving Tip # 85 -
What Are My Options For Buying Interstate Moving Insurance * Interstate movers normally must offer two different liability options referred to as valuation coverage: (1) Full Value Protection and (2) Released Value.
