PACKING AND MOVING TIPS BY MOVERS-MOVING.NET
Pro Movers Tip # 3 -
Packing Dishes and Plates * For packing dishes, after wrapping them individually with paper, wrap 4-6 wrapped dishes together in a bundle. Be sure to stand them upright in a heavy duty box. Do NOT lay flat. For larger platters and plates use your towels and other small linens for wrapping.
Moving Tip # 35 -
Do Not Pack Flammables * Do not pack flammables and combustibles. Get rid of your petrol, paints, and empty the gasoline in your lawn mowers and weed whackers before moving. Also contact your local gas grill distributor for the safest method to drain your barbeque propane tank.
Quick Moving Tip # 9 -
Custom Picture, Mirror and Glass Top Packing * Pictures and mirrors often require customized packing due to their varying sizes and shapes. Tools and materials needed to facilitate this custom packing include paper pads, or your linens and / or blankets (for wrapping the pictures), picture sections (pieces of cardboard for packing), and box cutter for custom cutting of the picture sections. When using box cutters to cut picture sections to size, don't do it directly on carpet or other flooring, as you might cut through the cardboard then cut the carpet or flooring.
Pro Movers Tip # 92 -
Packing Electronics and Computers * When packing computers and electronic, use original packing cartons, if available. If not, be sure to use heavy duty double or triple wall cartons, and lots of packing paper or bubblewrap.
Movers Tip # 52 -
Shuttle Truck for Small Road Access * Shuttle Service: Use of a smaller truck to provide service to residences that are not accessible to the mover's normal truck. If you live up in the hills on a small winding road, chances are the big moving truck will not be able to make it to the house and a smaller truck will be needed. Driveways can also be a problem as well.
Moving Tip # 23 -
Plan For Storage Options * Plan out exactly what you are going to move into your new home and consider short-term and long-term storage options if needed. When considering storage options, take into account length of time and total cost of storage vs. length of time in storage. You'd be surprised how many people spends thousands of dollars storing items that have very little value.
Movers Tip # 31 -
Prepare Your Refrigerator * Empty your refrigerator, eat your left-overs and throw out any perishables before moving. Also be sure to defrost your freezer at least 24 hours before relocating. Also, be sure to use towels to thoroughly dry out your refrigerator and freezer, particularly for long distance or storage moves.
Moving Tip # 5 -
Packing Heavy Items - Books, Papers, Canned Goods * Pack heavy items like books, papers, canned goods, small tools and CD's into sturdy, smaller cartons. If you pack them into larger cartons, they will be too heavy and difficult to move, or could break thru the cartons. Magazines and papers you should lay flat.
Movers Tip # 46 -
Moving Terms - Truck For Hire * Truck for-hire: A trucking company that is paid to transport cargo belonging to others. These trucks can be very big, and sometimes can be very difficult to maneuver in residential neighborhoods.
Pro Movers Tip # 48 -
Dispute Settlement Program * Movers must have a neutral dispute settlement program as a way of settling disputes that may arise concerning loss or damage of your household goods.
